I like Rite Aid when they have advertised items in stock

Today's trip done in two seperate trips through the check out was 69 cents out of pocket.  The cashier shut the drawer without giving me 5 cents change.  I didn't want to hassle with  having a supervisor come for 5 cents so my out of pocket was 74 cents.  This one gets complicated, but I'm going to have ONE very happy little girl.

On the first trip through checkout I scored one unicorn Pillow Pet.  2 peanut M&M's, 2 Snickers, 2 bags of Halls, 2 bottles of Finesse (I personally have not used this but it works out to about 50 cents per bottle, if I don't like it, I can donate it to the women's shelter). Total cost was $29.99.  I had a $20 UP reward from last month, a $5 off $25 purchase coupon, 2 $1 off each bag of Halls, $2 off the Pillow Pet, and 1 50 cent coupon for watching a video on Rite Aid's site.  Total out of pocket was 49 cents.  I could have gotten this all for free but a transaction that doesn't cost anytihng requires a supervisor.  It was easier to buy the kids some candy.  I also got $6 UP rewards which are coupons good at Rite Aid towards a next purchase.  I used it on the same trip for more shampoo.

Next trip, I got 2 more bags of Halls, (spring sickness is going around), 2 more bottles of shampoo, a pack of M&M's, a pack of Mentos ( I don't like them but this was FREE), and one pack of Airheads.  I again needed a small item so a supervisor would not have to be called for a zero balance.  Total purchase price was $9.20.  I used the $6 in Up rewards from the transaction above, a $2 rebate check from the Gas X I bought last month, that was a money maker. (Remember, they paid me to take it out of the store), and 2 50 cent manufacturer coupons.  I also received an additional $6 in Rite Aid money, so I have more money to spend on a future shopping trip.

For 69 cents (74 if you count my nickle shortage) I got a Pillow Pet, 4 packs of M&M's, 2 Snickers bars, 4 bags of Halls, 4 bottles of Finesse shampoo, 1 pack of Mentos, and an Airhead.  I also have $6 to spend later.  I'd say it was a good day.

Now if Rite Aid always had advertised items in stock, I could do this every week.
I was going to buy shampoo today since the kids dumped out  my bottle trying to make a bubble bath so I figure I got all 4 bottles for less than I would have paid for one.

Safeway trip today.

I've got to lay low.  I have $152 left in the grocery budget for the month.  That said, I realize to some it may be a months worth of groceries.  To me, my old ways about 1/3 of the month.  I have over 20 pounds of chicken in the freezer, hot dogs for the kids, and plenty of food to cook.  Today my out of pocket was $11.09 after I went back and got the money I was over charged.  I love Safeway deals.  However, the last 3 times I've gone, I've been overcharged.  The first two I got fixed at the store.  I had to go back today as I went shopping while Erick was getting ready for work.  I was in a hurry to get home so he could leave.

Here is the breakdown.  I got 4 jars of Safeway Select Salsa for 69 cents each.  (Those of you who know me are rolling your eyes, I know.  I make my own salsa but at 69 cents, I can't make it for this.  And I love the Safeway Select Green Salsa.  Reminds me of the sauce Taco Bell used to have years ago when the food was  made fresh at the restaurant and not reheated in bags as it is now).  A bottle of Jack Daniels' BBQ sauce for Annie.  She won't eat anything without ketchup, mustard, ranch, and bbq in that order.  Mixed all together it makes "Annie's sauce".  A bottle of fancy Kraft mayo, a bag of chips to enjoy with tonight's chicken enchilada's which were made last night, 2 Valentine's Day candy M&M hearts for my two ingrates :-), 2 boxes of crackers, and two cans of Campbell's soups.

Considering I was going to buy crackers at Winco (I think they run $3 bucks a box there) I don't think my $11.09 total was all that bad.

Tomorrow after I drop the kids off at school, I'm going to stop and buy a paper.  I need to breakdown and have it delivered.  I hear there are some good deals at Fred Meyer this week, including Kraft shredded cheese for as little as $1 per pack with coupons.  Did you know, cheese freezes well?
