Still not much to say.
I bought a paper and will look at the ads to see if I can score any more good deals.

Malt o Meal
The kids are going to love this. I go in spurts where I keep cereal in the house and then don't buy it for long periods of time. I happened to see an add for Food 4 Less. They have Malt o Meal 3/$5. I think it was in the January 2nd paper they had a coupon for $2 off 2 bags of Malt o Meal cereal.. I got 3 good size bags of cereal and one meaga sized bag for $3 after coupons. (Thanks Dana and Grandma for your extra coupons a few weeks ago).
I don't know if the extreme couponers would think this is a good deal but my kids are happy. They don't care that they don't have name brand cereal. They just like that they have Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruit Loops, Shredded Wheat and Chocolate Coca Pebbles.
If you think you might like to give couponing a try stop by Safeway and pick up one of their coupon books at the customer service counter. It has a ton of coupons that might come in handy.

Safewaty trip today
I found these coupons for $1 off Kraft cheese slices yesterday. The same day Kraft cheese is in the Safeway weekly ad for $1.99. Hmmm. $1.99 minus $1 coupon minus 50 cents for a doubler = 40 cents for a pound of Kraft cheese. Sounds like a good deal to me. Here is my shopping trip today. I got 2 1lb. Kraft cheese slices, 2 boxes of Quaker Instant Oatmeal and 2 packs of Goldfish for the kiddies. According to Safeway if these items were not on sale I would have paid $22.75 (Yeah right).
My total out of pocket was $2.74. Yes, I bought items I would not have normally bought. But I bought food we will eat. My logic was, by buying the oatmeal I was able to get everything for less than one pack of cheese that we will eat.
Here is the breakdown. 2 packs of Kraft Cheese for 1.99 each. Two boxes of Quaker Instant Oatmeal 2.50each. Two packs of Goldfish for the kids 88 cents each. Before coupons my total was 10.74. (I had to spend $10 to get the cheese for 1.99 each).
Now this is where it gets fun. I had 2 $1 off coupons for the cheese. I had 2 $1 off coupons for the oatmeal. Safeway will double up to 4 coupons up to 50 cents each. This took $6 off my total. I had a catalina that printed from the fruit snacks I bought a couple of weeks ago for an additional $2 savings. That took $8 off my total bringing my total to $2.74
One pack of cheese at Winco is two and a half bucks.
I think I did pretty good today.

couponing
I'm trying to save money. Maybe I'll write a couponing blog. I got two first aid travel kits today for 22 cents each. It's late, I haven't been on the computer much and I'm trying to get 2 kids to bed. I'll write more hopefully tomorrow.

Digital Ornament
Rite Aid also has Christmas on clearance for 90% off. I scored this digital ornament for $1.49 today. It says it will hold up to 59 photos. The store on Commercial ST. SE had a bunch this afternoon.
Rite Aid Deal 1-18-2010
I went to Rite Aid today to see if they had any of the buy 1 4 pack of toilet paper for $1 get a $1 Up Reward, making the t.p. in a sense free. I didn't figure I'd score any free toilet paper. I was right. However while I was there a lady came up behind me and purchased 10 - 97 cent bags of TGI Friday's Baked Potato Skins. The register went crazy spitting out a bunch of rewards. I asked her if they were "free" and she said yes. I checked my receipt from the purchase I just made. I just started shopping at Rite Aid this month and I was only $20 away from getting my $20 Up Reward. For those of you who don't shop at Rite Aid that means if I spent another $20 at Rite Aid on participating products, Rite Aid would give me $20 in Rite Aid money. I went to the shelf and stocked up on TGIF Baked Potato Skins. I figure if the kids don't eat them, I can donate them to the local food bank. I bought all the bags they had with register rewards from previous transactions and with the new rewards that printed they were free. I spent $2.28 out of pocket on soap and 7 UP and got my $20 Rite Aid rewards. I don't feel bad about spending the $2.28 out of pocket on soap and 7 UP as I needed soap anyway. I would have spent that much at Winco. I came away with 7 UP and $20 to spend later. I also didn't feel bad about clearing the shelf of the chips as I've encountered nothing but empty shelves in the month I've been trying to find deals at Rite Aid. I must say I'm beginning to like Rite Aid, despite the shelves being cleared on Sunday morning before most people have a chance to shop. I may change my mind if I continue to find out of stocks.

Dinner tonight.
Dinner tonight was potato soup. Instead of using sour cream and milk I used cream cheese. I was skeptical but it turned out pretty good. I served it with shredded cheddar cheese and bacon. Annie liked it, Thomas, well he decided he didn't want dinner tonight. Thomas should be grateful he lives in a country where he can turn his nose up at good food.

My first post.
I don't know what I'm doing. I've barely read a blog by anyone. I'll see if I can get this thing to work. :-)
